Kate + Peter: A Wedding at the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, MO

Kate and Peter had one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time...check it out HERE!

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to blog. I've changed the way I complete my editing process for weddings. I used to upload the all right away (the night of the wedding-that hasn't changed), and then the next day I would go through and pick out my favorites and blog them all ASAP because I was so excited. I'm still excited to see the images, but now I'm a little smarter about it. I go through the entire wedding, select all the images that the couple will receive on their high-res dvd, and edit through them. Once I've completed that, I will pick my favorites to blog. What I had noticed before was that when I blogged my faves BEFORE I edited the rest of them, I tended to lose interest. This helps me get the hard work out of the way first :)

Enough chitter-chatter. I'm excited to show you Kate and Peter's wedding day! Their ceremony and reception took place at the Contemporary Art Museum. I was really excited to shoot there...as far as I know, there haven't been many ceremonies or receptions that have taken place there yet!

I really hit it off with this couple at our initial meeting, got to know them at their e-session, and then was overjoyed when I got to sneak a peek at their wedding invite...probably the coolest invite I've ever seen...check it out!

My 2nd shooter, Mike Cassimatis of MNC Photography, came along for the day because his wife Lauren was a bridesmaid, and he's also friends with the groom! I was happy to have him along because he shoots some awesome stuff. He started with the guys while they got old-fashioned shaves. The reviews were mixed, and I have some photos of what some guys may view as "destruction"...decided not to post them but it was hilarious...

Kate was getting beautified down the hall...
Her dress by Marisa was fab...

It was a totally windy day, so we chose to do the first look in the Crystal Ballroom at the Renaissance...I love this room...

Note to beginner photographers...if you know that the weather outside is going to be crap...take advantage of whatever good light you can get. This wasn't my ideal spot for head shots...but the window light was fantastic and I wanted to get them done in case the weather wasn't cooperating later...

Like I said...it was SUPER windy...but WHO CARES...it WASN'T RAINING! That's a miracle in my book, quite honestly :) Kate and Peter wanted to do Arch shot but from a different perspective. It took us a long time to get up here but I love how they turned out...

Mike's idea...he thinks on a larger scale than I do...
Then we headed over to Benton Park...another place I've not shot at before...Ta-Da, Gorgeous bride!

I posted this shot on my facebook page last week...Kate's bridesmaids were a good example of how to not be too matchy-matchy. The dresses were from either JCrew or David's Bridal, and you really couldn't tell which was which. Their shoes and jewelry were all different, and they looked terrific!

Mike's shot...love it!
Kate has already made this shot her facebook profile pic...(little secret, I am always so excited when my clients use my images for their profile. Cheesy, I know.)

Then off to Carondelet Park! The sun finally came out, but it was so windy...you can see some water particles flying up from the lake...

Water shots always make me feel like I'm stepping outside of StL...
Hot!

Then we headed back to the museum to get ready for the ceremony...I couldn't pass up a few shots with this cool wall and sweet orange chair!

A few different perspectives of the ceremony location...

Their vows were amazing...I wish I could remember them to post them here!

An after-ceremony celebratory toast with their signature drink, the Something Blue!
Kate and Peter's details were very different from a typical wedding, and I LOVED that.
AWESOME centerpieces!

Love this sequence...you won't believe what she is reacting to...
Peter took piano lessons for 3 months before the wedding, to learn how to play their first dance song. Amaze-balls. I have awesome brides and grooms. The Piano was courtesy of Spanky, who's dueling pianos provided some really fun entertainment!

Thanks guys! We had a blast on your wedding day!

Here's a lists of their vendors, so you can emulate their super awesome wedding :)
